Are you ready to lend a helping hand and make a positive impact in our community? Sign up to volunteer for this year's Winterization Event on the morning of Saturday, November 15th! and help us prepare the homes of residents in Tippecanoe County for the winter season. Whether you’re a Purdue student or a community member, your time and effort will go a long way in supporting those who need it most.

Volunteers do tasks for local residents such as raking leaves, cleaning gutters, washing windows, trimming shrubs, and other "winterizing" tasks. Most importantly, volunteers connect and socialize with the residents--this is an excellent opportunity to deepen your connection to Purdue's surrounding community! Many of the residents are unable to leave their homes regularly and have few visitors, so your time has an incredible impact beyond the outside of the homes we serve.

If possible, please register by 11:59 pm on Wednesday, November 6th! This allows us to get an accurate headcount to make sure all residents can be served day of. However, last minute sign ups are welcome!
HOW TO REGISTER!
Most of our volunteers work in groups with their organization, club, or friends, but you can also sign up as an individual! Everyone is welcome to participate. Even though you may be volunteering as a group, each individual must still fill out of volunteering form! Please click the link above to fill out our volunteer registration form. TO CREATE A GROUP:

The first person to sign up in an organization will become a Group Leader. When asked whether they would like to create a group, the group leader should select to create a group. Please follow the instructions carefully in the form!​

Group Leaders are responsible for coordinating transportation for their group on the day of the event and will serve as the primary point of contact in case any issues arise. If you would prefer someone else to serve in this role, please have them create and register the group before signing up!

The Winterization Leadership CREW will reach out to the Group Leader with details about the individuals signed up for your group, along with your designated check-in time, closer to the day of the event.

Once the leader has filled out the rest of the form, they should share the group name with their friends/group members.

TO SIGN UP AS A PART OF A GROUP:

Ask your Group Leader what the group was named before signing up. When asked to pick a group, select the group you would like to join from the dropdown menu. Groups should be named with the following format--Organization: Leader Name (e.g. Wesley Foundation: Adrian Walker). This allows large organizations with multiple volunteering groups to distinguish who their group leader is--please make sure you chose the correct group leader!

TO SIGN UP AS A PART OF A INDIVIUAL:

If you don't have a group and are not part of an organization that is participating, then you can choose "Assign me to a group with others that don't already have a group." You will be informed by email closer to the day of the event where and when to meet your assigned group.​
JOIN OUR STUDENT LEADERSHIP CREW!
CREW members make Winterization happen by volunteering behind-the-scenes in the lead up to the event. Winterization is unique as the entire event is planned and executed by students dedicated to bettering their community. If you are interested in a serving in a longer term role beyond the single day we spend winterizing homes, we would love to have you join us! CREW meets weekly on Tuesdays at 6:00pm at Wesley Foundation (200 N. Russell St., across from the Honors College) from September to November.
